After a concerted effort made by the administration and operation departments of our hotel, we have been able to advance in the CST program by reaching the level represented by 3 leaves.  Each leaf constitutes a new level of achievement with respect to sustainable tourism.  Natural Lodge Caño Negro prides itself on fully incorporating the CST objective.  Through CST, our lodge is able to help preserve one of the most important wetland areas of the world.  In order to participate in this effort, we have prepared each member of our personnel to work in harmony with the surrounding natural environment in attempt to better our capacity to continue towards our objective.

Some projects that we have implemented are:

The recycling is implemented collecting and separating the remainders according to its category glass, plastic, paper and tins. In addition to the biodegradable product use in the handling of our operations.

For the water saving we had solar paddles, measuring and planning that helps a good use of this resource. The infrastructure of the facilities causes that the natural light takes advantage of to the maximum to diminish the consumption of electrical energy besides to use small pumps of low consumption and photovoltaic cells.

Natural Lodge Caño Negro is working together with the Caño Negro community and the surrounding areas to preserve the nature of the region and to obtain greater results creating different projects with small associations from the community.

. Where we want to present the great rich natural, that count the area of Caño Negro and in that we motivated our guest to take care of and to protect this big area.

We are making an important project of recycling of paper together with the school of the community and by means of the this, children they make small handwork after they expose them to our guests with the purpose of collecting bottoms for benefit of the institution. In the process the paper is reused and with this it diminishes the amount of sweepings and garbage aid to eliminate the environmental contamination.

We have incorporated a group of women called AMSA (Association of Women of San Antonio) which mainly work with natural resources in the imitation jewellery creation using wood and seeds of trees of the zone, this product offers to the guests of our hotel and the income of this activity them aid to replace some necessities of the home.

We as much participated in campaigns made along with the town for the cleaning of the zones of the town like of the Refuge of Wild Life in where they become you collect of sweepings.

Our rooms count on an ample list of advice and recommendations that stimulate the guest to collaborate in preserving our natural paradise.

Projects in which we worked

This working in extending the application of this program since we include that to practice it in the hotel it isn’t only sufficient to have greater results, with this we motivated our personnel so that he informs and he promotes this program in his community thinking to the neighbors on the importance that has the Refuge and why to preserve it. We stimulated the personnel who applies to east program in its home following the procedures of the hotel giving an example the other people and thus to verify to them that this simultaneously brings many benefits for its home diminishing expenses that conscience creates and verifies that to work in harmony with the nature it is very important.

Also we are working in offering greater information to the visitor for this we are gliding to label the visited places more with messages of how protecting and conserving the zone since it is of world-wide importance, as well as information of our flora, fauna and a little the history of the town.

Another project which we have in process is to rescue, and to inform on the culture of the town to obtain we are creating it small to char them to the clients in a place determined with certain schedule where the client will be able to know as they are the roots of the town, customs and traditions that characterize it. Without also forgetting that one of the best forms to preserve and to maintain a good balance ecological is practicing the reforestation for that reason we altogether undertake a plan with the MINAE, the collaboration of travel agencies and wholesalers.

Why we looked for with the CST

We looked for the efficiency in the operation where we managed to promote the efficient use in the handling of the as much hydric resources, power as in such product which they are used, which takes consequently to a significant saving, to a diminution in the contamination sources which they can generate and improve the competitiveness of the company, besides to look for the satisfaction of the client.

When counting on a policy in the diminution of costs we caused that the internal collaborators or clients participate in the processes in an active form, when having to generate results favorable to obtain the operative efficiency of each area.
